Welcome to the wonderful world of the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago Auxiliary!
Founded in 1913, our organization is one of the oldest and most respected fundraising groups in Chicago. Our accomplishments over the course of the last century are impressive- over $121 million (in today’s dollars) raised by our members and immeasurable time and energy devoted to our mission. The Auxiliary works exclusively to raise awareness of and money for the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago. It is comprised of over 700 women in 12 chapters throughout the city and suburbs.
The Auxiliary attaches great importance to community outreach. Every fall, we sponsor a Coat Drive in conjunction with CD One Price Cleaners. Last year we distributed over 1,100 coats to Clinic patients.
Our members’ holidays are busy and productive as we collaborate on our See Santa Party, held the first Saturday in December. At this perennial holiday favorite, we distribute gift bags to over 800 children and invite them to share their holiday wish lists with Santa, the undisputed “Guest of Honor” at the party.
Educational enrichment programs are presented to children at the Clinic several times a year. These focus on literacy, art, science, and math. They are a valuable and popular aspect of our expansive community outreach. All of these programs and activities serve to reinforce the Clinic’s bond with its patients and enrich their lives.
The Auxiliary welcomes the interest and involvement of area women. If you would like to learn more about the Auxiliary or join one of our Chapters, please contact Auxiliary Coordinator Maria Penland at: PenlandM@infantwelfare.org
I also encourage you to review our Calendar of Events. It provides an excellent overview of Chapter benefits. We firmly believe our events are equal parts fun and philanthropy, and we hope to see you at one or more of them this coming year.
