Thank you for your interest in the Auxiliary of the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago!

Our Auxiliary is a dynamic group of more than 600 women in 10 chapters with locations in the city and suburbs. Since our founding in 1913, our organization has exclusively supported the Angel Harvey Family Health Center of the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago. Our highly dedicated members lend their support in a variety of ways including fundraising efforts, community outreach and patient programs. We are proud to have raised close to $122 million (in today’s dollars) through the steadfast commitment of time and energy of our many members over the years.

As you look through our calendar of events you will see that each chapter holds a fabulous benefit unique to that individual chapter. While each fundraising event is different, each is designed and executed with a common goal in mind: gathering family and friends together for an entertaining experience while raising awareness for and support of the mission of IWS. I hope you will join us at one or more of these exciting benefits this year.

Our members lend their talents to a variety of important community programs organized by The Auxiliary each year.  As the weather turns cold in the fall, The Auxiliary sponsors a Coat Drive in conjunction with CD One Price Cleaners. Last year, volunteers distributed over 1050 coats to health center patients. Last December, more than 200 children were in attendance at our festive See Santa Party. Each child had a visit with Santa himself and walked away with a gift bag and a cheerful smile.

Throughout the year, our Chapters provide thoughtful gifts and arrange activities for patients and their families. Mother’s Day gift bags and card making, soup kits, goody bags for pediatric dental patients and baby shower items for our newborn patients are just a few examples of the meaningful ways we demonstrate that the Center’s patients are a top priority.

Our Auxiliary welcomes new members at any point during the year. The Auxiliary Coordinator, Maria Penland (, would be happy to provide more information or put you in contact with one of our chapters. We would love to have you join us as part of our Auxiliary family.
